[Dollar Rises Slightly, Thin Liquidity Limits Volatility, Market Focuses on This Week's PCE] ⑴ On Monday, the dollar index rose modestly by 0.2% to 97.079. Zaheer Anwari, CEO of The Revacy Fund, stated in a report that the President's Day holiday resulted in thin liquidity, limiting market volatility. ⑵ However, he noted that the dollar faces the risk of renewed weakness, as weaker-than-expected US inflation data on Friday reinforced expectations of further rate cuts later this year. Market attention is now turning to the Fed meeting minutes released on Wednesday, and personal consumption expenditure inflation data and fourth-quarter economic growth data to be released on Friday. ⑶ He pointed out that if the PCE data confirms a general slowdown in inflation, the dollar and US Treasury yields could fall further.
