[ING: European Banks Face Risks Due to Business Relationships with Non-Bank Intermediaries] (1) In a report, ING analyst Marine Leleux cited relevant content from the European Central Bank and the European Committee on Systemic Risk, pointing out that Eurozone banks are facing risks in terms of funding and liquidity due to their business relationships with non-bank financial intermediaries (NBFIs). (2) "Overall, Eurozone banks are net debtors of the NBFI sector, a situation that exposes them to vulnerabilities in both funding and liquidity," Leleux said. (3) She stated that Eurozone banks rely on NBFIs to attract deposits and issue bank bonds. "Data shows that short-term and concentrated financing methods dominate, and once these financing channels tighten, banks will face the dual risks of debt rollover and fund redemption."
