[Pantheon Macroeconomics: Swiss Economy Expected to Rebound in Q1 2026] Ankita Amarjouri, an economist at the Pantheon Macroeconomics Institute, stated in a report that the Swiss economy is expected to rebound in the first quarter of 2026. In the fourth quarter of last year, Swiss GDP grew by 0.2%, reversing a 0.5% decline in the third quarter. Amarjouri said, “Looking ahead, surveys show that economic growth will accelerate in the first quarter as Swiss companies gain a clearer understanding of tariffs on exports to the United States.” She predicts first-quarter GDP growth of 0.5%. For most of the third quarter, approximately 40% of Swiss exports to the United States were subject to a 39% tariff. She pointed out that the fourth-quarter growth was mainly reflected in the moderate expansion of the service sector, while Swiss industrial output stagnated, and net trade likely dragged down economic growth.
