[Airfare Price Cuts Drive Off-Peak Travel; First Day of Lunar New Year Travelers Exceed Pre-Holiday Peak] Data from multiple platforms shows a significant increase in air travel from the first to the third day of the Lunar New Year this year. On the Qunar platform, flight bookings for departures on the first day of the Lunar New Year even exceeded the pre-holiday peak. Airfare trends have driven the travel peak forward. This year, the first and second days of the Lunar New Year saw relatively low ticket prices, with most popular routes seeing prices halved compared to the pre-holiday peak. For example, a flight from Beijing to Haikou cost 1999 yuan on February 14th, the day before the holiday, while it was only 792 yuan on the first day of the Lunar New Year (February 17th). Currently, airfares on some popular routes are cheaper than train tickets. For example, the lowest airfare for Beijing-Wuhan is 440 yuan, while the high-speed rail ticket is 515 yuan.
