Federal Reserve Governor Barr stated that recent data shows the job market is gradually stabilizing. While the job market is currently in equilibrium, it is relatively vulnerable to shocks and easily influenced by external factors. We have ample evidence to believe that price pressures will ease further, but the possibility of inflation remaining persistently above 2% still poses a "significant risk." Barr indicated that he hopes to see more concrete evidence of inflation falling back to the 2% target, and that it is a more prudent and reasonable approach for the Federal Reserve to spend sufficient time studying relevant data before adjusting monetary policy again.
