Chicago Federal Reserve President Austan Goolsbee said on Tuesday that there is potential for multiple interest rate cuts this year if inflation continues to fall toward the central bank's 2% target. He noted that service sector inflation remains high, but if tariff-related price increases are one-off, policymakers have room to act. In an interview with CNBC, Goolsbee stated, "I do think that if this situation proves to be temporary, and we can show that we are on the road back to 2% inflation, I still see a few more opportunities for rate cuts in 2026, but that remains to be seen."
