[Voting Begins in Japan's House of Representatives Prime Minister Nomination Election] Voting began in Japan's House of Representatives prime ministerial election on the afternoon of February 18th, local time. Earlier that morning, the Sanae Takaichi cabinet resigned en masse, and both houses of the Japanese Diet will hold their respective prime ministerial elections. According to regulations, members of parliament can cast blank ballots in the prime ministerial election. In the first round of voting, the candidate receiving more than half the votes wins directly. If no candidate receives more than half the votes, including blank ballots, the two candidates with the most votes will advance to a runoff round. (CCTV)
