Italian energy giant Eni is considering re-entering the oil and gas trading business, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday. Amid heightened geopolitical tensions and volatile energy prices, the company hopes to achieve returns comparable to those of BP, Shell, and TotalEnergies. Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi stated, “I stopped trading in 2019, but other large energy companies are still trading. BP, Shell, and Total are all major traders, earning billions of dollars.”
