[Thailand's Feed Wheat Tender Fails Due to High Bids, Importers Remain Inactive] ⑴ According to a preliminary assessment by European traders on Wednesday, a group of Thai importers failed to make any purchases in an international tender for approximately 60,000 tons of feed wheat, which closed on Tuesday, due to excessively high bids. ⑵ Traders stated that the lowest bid received in the tender was approximately $275 to $276 per ton, cost plus freight, liner terms. This price level exceeded the buyers' acceptable range, leading to the tender's failure. ⑶ The importers' group (TFMA) had previously sought to purchase up to 315,400 tons of feed wheat, in five shipments of 60,000 to 71,200 tons each, with shipping dates from August to December. Traders noted that the group typically does not purchase all the shipments for which bids were received, usually only purchasing one or two shipments. ⑷ The failure of this tender reflects the continued cautious purchasing intentions of buyers at current international grain price levels. The market will continue to monitor subsequent tenders and changes in global wheat supply and demand.
