[Institutions: US Natural Gas Futures Test $3 Level] US natural gas futures for the near month are attempting to break below $3, as mild weather this week has offset the boost from a cold snap expected on the East Coast over the weekend and early next week. "The region is expected to return to unusually warm weather around the end of the month, making any cold spells short-lived," said Andy Huenefeld of Pinebrook Energy Advisors in a report. He further noted, "So far, the market has been unimpressed by any incremental demand from this brief change in weather patterns." Natural gas prices for March delivery fell 1.7% to $2.978 per million British thermal units (MMBtu).
