On February 18 local time, the Polish Ministry of the Interior announced that it would extend the buffer zone regulations on the Polish-Belarusian border for another 90 days. The new regulations will take effect on March 5 and cover a border section of more than 78 kilometers. Poland said the extension of the buffer zone regulations was based on ongoing immigration pressure and recent incidents of balloons carrying tobacco packages being launched from Belarus. The ban will be implemented from June 13, 2024 and will apply to specific areas on the Polish-Belarusian border.
