[Canada's Export Recovery Remains Difficult] Andrew Grantham of CIBC Capital Markets stated that while Canada's net trade will have a positive impact on fourth-quarter GDP, this does not mean that exports are experiencing a strong recovery from the decline that began in the spring of 2025. Grantham noted that while exports increased in December, export volume was still down nearly 5% year-over-year. "There remains a significant divergence across industries, with exports of products most severely impacted by U.S. tariffs generally remaining weak, highlighting the importance of renegotiating CUSMA and maintaining tariff exemptions for other products covered by the trade agreement."
