[Excluding the government shutdown, the US economy is expected to grow fundamentally robustly in 2025] Despite disappointing fourth-quarter data, key sectors of the US economy are expected to perform quite well in 2025. Consumer spending grew by 2.7% last year, lower than 2.9% in 2024 but higher than 2.6% in 2023. Investment grew by 2%, lower than 3% in 2024 but higher than the 0.8% growth rate in 2023. Excluding the volatile trade impact, final sales to domestic private sector buyers grew by 2.7% last year, lower than 3% in 2024 but on par with 2023.
