[US Economic Growth Expected to Reach 2.2% in 2025, Lowest Level Since 2021] On February 20th local time, the US Bureau of Economic Analysis released a report showing that US real GDP is projected to grow by 2.2% year-on-year in 2025, lower than the 2.8% growth in 2024, marking the lowest growth rate since 2021. In terms of prices, the gross domestic price index is expected to rise by 2.6% in 2025, higher than the 2.4% in 2024. The personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index is expected to rise by 2.6% for the year, the same as in 2024; the core PCE price index, excluding food and energy, is expected to rise by 2.8%, slightly lower than the 2.9% in 2024. Preliminary estimates indicate that US GDP will grow at an annualized rate of 1.4% in the fourth quarter of 2025 (October-December), a significant slowdown from the 4.4% growth rate in the third quarter. The report points out that fourth-quarter GDP growth was mainly driven by household consumption and investment, but a decline in government spending and exports contributed to the slowdown.
