[US Tariff Policy Changes, Indian National Congress Calls for Renegotiation of Trade Agreement] According to foreign media reports, following the US Supreme Court's ruling that several tariff measures implemented by Trump last year were illegal, and Trump subsequently imposing a 10% global tariff on foreign goods, India's main opposition party, the Indian National Congress, has called on the Modi government to suspend and renegotiate the trade agreement between India and the United States. Jairam Ramesh, the Indian National Congress's official in charge of external relations, explicitly stated that India should renegotiate the agreement. Earlier this month, India and the Trump administration reached a provisional agreement under which the US reduced tariffs on Indian goods from 25% to 18% and eliminated the additional 25% punitive tariff.
