[King Charles III Says Americans Would Speak French If It Weren't for Britain] On April 28th local time, at a dinner held at the White House, King Charles III of the United Kingdom jokingly remarked to Trump that "if it weren't for the United States, all of Europe would be speaking German." Charles invoked British colonial history, responding to Trump by saying, "If it weren't for us, you would still be speaking French."
