[Institutions: Bank of England's Hawkish Sentiment Strengthens, November Rate Hike Probability Increases] ⑴ Analyst Suren Thiru and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales pointed out that although opinions among Bank of England committee members remain divided, hawkish sentiment appears to be strengthening. ⑵ The Bank of England maintained its benchmark interest rate at 3.75% by a vote of 6 to 3 to balance the inflationary impact of the energy shock caused by the Iran war, and the fact that there is currently no evidence that it is contributing to more persistent price pressures across the economy. ⑶ Thiru pointed out that the meeting minutes showed growing concerns about inflation, which means that the probability of a rate hike in November has increased significantly. ⑷ He stated that although policy may remain unchanged this year, the continued hostility between the US and Iran means that the risk of a rate hike has changed from a possibility to a probability. ⑸ Thiru stated that the impact of next month's government budget on inflation will be a key consideration for the Bank of England.
