[UN Tourism Organization Lowers Global International Tourism Growth Forecast for This Year] The United Nations Tourism Organization (UNTO) released its latest World Tourism Barometer report on the 17th, lowering its forecast for global international tourist arrivals in 2026 from 3% to 4% to 1% to 2%. The report shows that in the first half of this year, global international tourist arrivals increased by only 0.4% year-on-year, with approximately 690 million cross-border trips, an increase of about 3 million compared to the same period last year. In the first quarter, global international tourist arrivals increased by 2% year-on-year, while in the second quarter they decreased by 1%. In June, global international tourist arrivals decreased by 3% year-on-year. Directly affected by the conflict in the Middle East, international tourist arrivals in the Middle East decreased by 22% year-on-year in the first half of this year. (Xinhua)
