[National Bureau of Statistics: Price Indices Decline from High Levels] On October 31, 2026, the Service Industry Survey Center of the National Bureau of Statistics and the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing released the China Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI). Huo Lihui, Chief Statistician of the Service Industry Survey Center of the National Bureau of Statistics, provided an interpretation. The price indices declined from high levels. The main raw material purchase price index and the ex-factory price index for the manufacturing sector were 56.8% and 51.7% respectively. Affected by the recent decline in prices of some non-ferrous metals and other bulk commodities, these figures decreased by 4.0 and 2.3 percentage points respectively compared to the previous month, but remained within the expansion range, indicating a narrowing of the price increase in the manufacturing market. From an industry perspective, with the continued rise in international crude oil prices, the price indices for industries such as petroleum, coal and other fuel processing, and chemical fibers and rubber and plastic products continued to remain above 60.0%.
