[US House Democratic Leader: American People "Have Had Enough of Extremism"] US media predicted on March 3 that House Democratic Leader Hakim Jeffries would become the next Speaker of the US House of Representatives, becoming the first African American Speaker in US history. Jeffries delivered a speech on March 3 celebrating the Democratic Party's victory in the midterm elections, stating that "the American people have had enough of extremism, have had enough of corruption." In his speech, Jeffries said, "America is back," and "from East Coast to West Coast, the American people have made it clear that they have had enough of extremism, have had enough of corruption." Jeffries also outlined his "100-day agenda," stating that the focus is on reducing the cost of living and oversight of the Trump administration, "holding accountable those who have brought unprecedented corruption to this country."
