[US Initial Jobless Claims Fall to 189,000, Lower Than Expected] ⑴ US initial jobless claims for the week ending October 31 fell to 189,000, lower than the market expectation of 196,000, and the previous week's figure of 195,000. ⑵ The four-week moving average of initial jobless claims fell to 194,750, compared to 197,000 the previous week. ⑶ Continuing jobless claims for the week ending October 24 rose to 1,718,000, higher than the expected 1,710,000, and the previous week's figure of 1,695,000. ⑷ The insured unemployment rate remained unchanged at 1.1% for the week ending October 24.
